Collings D3 Baa ASB Adirondack Spruce and Brazilian Rosewood
The square-shouldered 14-fret dreadnought is the most popular steel-string acoustic guitar body shape in the world. While Collings is certainly not the only company to build them, they bring a new tonal clarity to the depth and warmth usually associated with such a large, deep-bodied guitar. Although its bass response makes the dreadnought ideal for vocal accompaniment, Collings versions are also often employed by bluegrass flatpickers who must compete with inherently louder instruments such as banjos and fiddles. The Collings D3 is among their best appointments.
The wide range of woods and neck sizes offered allow dreadnought fans to find a Collings model ideally suited to their playing style and tonal preference. This gorgeous, one-of-a-kind, D3 Baa ASB Adirondack Spruce and Brazilian Rosewood has commanding presence with balanced tone and clarity.
On an open strum, the words clarity and richness come right to mind. The trebles are clean and defined without overpowering the overall richness of the bottom-end. Adirondack Spruce makes this guitar incredibly powerful with virtually unlimited headroom and plenty of Adirondack crispness.
The beautiful Brazilian Rosewood back and sides brings the guitar balance and warmth, and when coupled with Adirondack Red Spruce brings the guitar strong fundamentals, a lightning quick response, crisp trebles, and virtually unlimited headroom. Adirondack was the legendary topwood used on most pre-war American-made guitars. Adirondack has a high stiffness across and along the grain, making it one of the go-to topwoods for flatpickers.
Brazilian Rosewood is an extremely rare tonewood with deep bass and brilliant trebles that was used on the famous vintage guitars we have all grown to love. An international trade embargo on Brazilian rosewood products guarantees that the relatively few sets remaining in this country will continue to spiral in price as the supply dwindles. Brazilian brings remarkable darkness, depth, and warmth; while exhibiting glorious overtones across the entire tonal spectrum.
As Brazilian Rosewood is in short supply and no one really knows how much will be available in the years to come, this is an instrument that is sure to climb in rarity and value.
This Instrument is in Excellent Conditon with some light surface scratches..most of which are in the darker part of the sunburst as well as some pick scratches on the pickguard. There are also some faint button scratches on the back. None of which go through the finish.
Includes Hardshell Case.
