Collings D3A MhSB Custom Adirondack Spruce Mahogany Western Shaded Sunburst
The square-shouldered 14-fret dreadnought is the most popular steel-string acoustic guitar body shape in the world. While Collings is certainly not the only company to build them, they bring a new tonal clarity to the depth and warmth usually associated with such a large, deep-bodied guitar.
Although its bass response makes the dreadnought ideal for vocal accompaniment, Collings versions are also often employed by bluegrass flatpickers who must compete with inherently louder instruments such as banjos and fiddles.
Adirondack was the legendary top wood used on most pre-war American-made guitars. Adirondack has a high stiffness across and along the grain, making it one of the go-to top woods for flat-pickers.
The Adirondack Spruce top is beautifully finished in a western shaded sunburst. This makes the dreadnought instantly eye catching and it sure stands out from the crowd!
This D1A is a lead players dream. The Mahogany back and sides make leads very clear. It is very loud, will dominate jam sessions, and also sounds very sweet. Whether needed on stage or in the studio, this D3 is an exceptional choice.
Additional custom appointments include a 1 3/4" nut width, Nickel Waverly Tuner, Dalmation Pickguard, and Ivoroid bindings.
