Collings Baritone DS1B

We are proud to offer the new Collings Baritone 1 A steel string acoustic guitar!! This Collings Baritone, with a longer scale of 27.5" creates a snappy string attack that when combined with the chiming musicality of the tone woods selected, makes for a beautifully dynamic and responsive instrument with ringing sustain and warmth.

The slope shoulder dreadnought has become one of the most popular steel-string acoustic guitar body shapes in the world. While Collings is certainly not the only company to build them, they bring a new tonal clarity to the depth and warmth usually associated with such a large, deep-bodied guitar.

Similar to Sitka, Adirondack responds well to either a light or firm touch. It has more overall resonance than Sitka. The Mahogany back and sides is much lighter in weight than rosewood, koa, or maple. In spite of its weight, mahogany yields a surprisingly strong loud sound with an emphasis on clear bright trebles.

This Collings Baritone model, paired with an Adirodack top which has become a fast favorite among Collings fans! Adirondack was the legendary topwood used on most pre-war American-made guitars that has come to be known as the "Holy Grail" of top woods. Adirondack has a high stiffness across and along the grain, making it one of the go-to topwoods for flatpickers!

Collings Adirondack instruments are also often employed by bluegrass flatpickers who must compete with inherently louder instruments such as banjos and fiddles.

This guitar being a 13 fret capitalizes upon the best attributes of a 12-fret's resonance and a 14-fret's access. The body fits perfectly in your hands, inspiring gorgeous strumming sounds or intricate finger-picked passages. It is finished off with a gorgeous Tortoise Body Binding with Rope Purfle.

You can dig in hard with this guitar and it will love it.
