This instrument has micro-towel marks from being wiped down in our shop during demonstration and may have fret wear, both so fine they cannot be shown in photographs. It is being sold as a used instrument with no factory warranty. There are no other defects or blemishes to report, and it conforms to factory setup and fully functions as designed.
Collings 01 Guitar features a Sitka Spruce top and Mahogany back and sides. Sitka has a lower stiffness-to-weight ratio than Adirondack Red Spruce. A positive side-effect of this more flexible soundboard is that it doesn't require as much strength (or string attack) to produce it's signature balanced sonic tone. The gorgeous Mahogany back and sides provide a dry, crisp note definition. It responds to bare fingers, as well as a pick attack.
With softer contours and a longer body dimension than the 0 14-Fret model, the 0 12-Fret has a balanced and full tone with slightly more bass and overall volume. Featuring a comfortable short 24 7/8" scale and a 2 5/16" string spacing at the bridge, this model is well suited to both finger style and strumming techniques and excels as a recording instrument. Convenient as a travel guitar but with the authoritative tone of a performance instrument, this model is versatile choice for any guitarist.
This 01 is simply appointed in a tortoise bound body, a simple walnut backstrip, ebony fretboard, and bridge, and finished off with Nickel Waverly tuners. This instrument is visually and audibly a delight.
Collings acclaimed Traditional or “T-Series” guitars offer a new tonal variation on the distinctive Collings sound with a tonality evocative of the best 1920's and 1930's era instruments. Each T-Series guitar is built using animal protein glue and a very thin, all nitrocellulose lacquer finish, making them exceptionally dynamic and responsive. Bracing and tone woods are carefully selected and adjusted for weight and thickness to create a voicing characterized by warm, rounded highs and a present low midrange, while retaining a quick attack and strong projection. To complete the package, all T-Series models include our original vintage-inspired Collings case that we've designed and build by hand in-house for an unrivaled level of quality, fit and aesthetic that enhances the experience of owning a fine instrument.
