Collings OM1A Custom Adirondack Spruce and Mahogany

The Collings OM1A is a classic Collings model, a shop favorite, and while it takes it's inspiration from the original models, Collings has subtly upgraded these with their signature style, and tone. OM stands for Orchestra Model, but 80 years after this body shape was first designed it has become the most popular 14-fret model with fingerstyle guitar soloists who choose to play on steel strings. Collings has transformed the standard OM, into a true "do it all" instrument.

This OM1A packs a serious punch, with killer volume and presence - easily acting as a dreadnought alternative. This OM1A has a superb balance and clarity, each note stands out in chordal accompaniment, as well as lead lines. The Adirondack top adds a tremendous amount of headroom, crisp trebles, and gut-punching mids. It takes to a flatpick beautifully, but sings with bare fingers as well. You know the feeling when you're holding that guitar? - this is that guitar.

The Vintage Now neck is a custom appointment on this instrument and is coupled with a 1 3/4" nut and 2 1/4" string spacing at the saddle. Collings Vintage Now neck is the perfect compromise for many players that think a modern neck is too flat in profile, yet the typical neck on a 40's style instrument is too thick. Collings' exclusive neck profile is uniquely adapted to players looking for vintage width and girth, with contemporary playability. The slightly wider string spacing at both ends of the guitar also makes this specially adept at fingerstyle as well as complex chordal playing that much more enjoyable. With a traditional "cut-through" saddle there should be no doubt as to the inspiration for this beast.

Accompaniments like the Adirondack bracing make this guitar that much more menacing. Adirondack Bracing offers a more efficient transfer of string energy to the top, since Adirondack is much stiffer than the standard Sitka braces. This allows for a more responsive and powerful sound board.

Finished off with gorgeous custom wood body binding and rosette, this guitar not only sounds fantastic, it provides a classic style and elegance unlike any other.
