Collings OM1A Cutaway Sunburst Adirondack Red Spruce and Mahogany ID-6496
Collings OM1A Cutaway Sunburst Adirondack Red Spruce and Mahogany
Collings comes through with another strong contending small body! As a comfortable transition between bodies, this Orchestra Model has the ability to play with large dreadnoughts with ease. This Collings OM1A Cutaway, synonymous with Pete Huttlinger and his agile right hand, packs a punch with a wide-grained Adirondack top and Mahogany back and sides. In Collings style, the high gloss finish is perfection and an added bonus to a smooth, quick neck.
Whether it be for couch playing or a live stage, this is an easy guitar to play anywhere, in any style. Thumb-picking and flat-picking allow this guitar to respond with a bright, crisp attack while over the sound hole a bottom comes through that is focused for this size body.
The custom cutaway option allows for easy access above the fourteenth fret, without sacrificing volume or tone. A simple accompaniment of black-white purfling, tortoise shell binding as well as a comfortable 1-3/4" nut width which gives you plenty of room for complex chord shapes.
The Adirondack Red Spruce top on this OM1A provides ample power suitable for most applications. While the tone is not as deep as a dreadnought, the tone is punchy, bright, clear and loud while being considerably smaller than it's larger siblings. Additionally, the Adirondack Spruce top allows for lots of headroom and power when you need it. Adirondack is the stiffest tone wood and provides an instant attack and unmatched clarity, though it takes a bit more pick attack to drive it.
The solid mahogany back and sides offer balanced, full-range tone with lots of clear projection.
Finished off with a gorgeous Sunburst Top, this guitar begs to be both played and seen.
