Collings OM 2 G SS German Spruce & Indian Rosewood
The Collings OM2 G SS features a German Spruce top and East Indian Rosewood back and sides. The compact shape makes the Collings OM equally easy to handle onstage or when sitting on the couch, and the short scale on this custom model makes playing more comfortable.
The "SS" in OM2 G SS stands for "short scale." The 24 7/8" scale makes for effortlessly fretting and string bends that are a breeze. Combining the shortened scale, the custom 1 3/4" nut and the German Spruce top - the combination is a real winner!
This guitar possesses all the projection and tonal clarity Collings is known for, while still maintaining a good measure of warmth on the bottom end. The body size of the OM lends itself towards a more focused and defined tone than a typical dreadnought size, in a much more comfortable package.
German Spruce and Indian Rosewood is a classic combination of tonewoods that is incredibly easy to fall in love with on a guitar such as this Collings. German Spruce is one of our favorite choices for topwood. German Spruce has a stiffness to weight ratio that falls somewhere between Sitka and Adirondack, making it an ideal compromise for many playing styles. German is stiff enough to handle heavy flatpicking, but also responds very well to fingerstyle players as well. When combined with East Indian Rosewood back and sides, it produces a lush low end that is clear and powerful. This guitar really shines, with a surprisingly loud voice, impeccable clarity, and that legendary Collings tone.
This Guitar also features a custom cutaway, and beautiful Flourish headstock inlay.
