Collings OM2H E Cut Engelmann Spruce and Indian Rosewood with Cutaway ID-9844
Collings OM2H E Cut Engelmann Spruce and Indian Rosewood with Cutaway
‘OM’ stands for “Orchestra Model,” but 80 years after this body shape was first designed it has become the most popular 14-fret model with fingerstyle guitar soloists who choose to play on steel strings… yet with custom German Spruce top, flatpickers also find it very appealing with virtually unlimited headroom and power when you need it.
The compact shape makes the Collings OM2H equally easy to handle onstage or when sitting on the couch. The tone is focused and powerful, as are all Collings' guitars.
Engelmann is the one of the softest spruces used in guitar making, a quality that lends itself to light playing. As opposed to Sitka, Engelmann Spruce has much broader and stronger overtones, with an effortless response due to its weight. While this guitar may not have as
much headroom as a standard 02, it easily makes up for it in responsiveness – a perfect quality for fingerstylists and light players. This sweet little thing has a warm, rich tone with that signature Collings’ volume.
The Indian Rosewood back and sides provides a deep, extended low end when compared to mahogany and certainly shines when combined with Colling's masterfully tuned Engelmann top. Indian Rosewood is not only beautiful, it provides a perfect tone and volume for all styles of play. The low end is clear, distinct and incredibly powerful, without sacrificing the strong high end.
Simple and elegant appointments on this instrument include, pre-war scalloped bracing, traditional diamond and square fingerboard inlays, grained ivoroid body binding, herringbone purfling with matching backstrip and a tortise style pickguard. It also features a cutaway.
This guitar is incredibly responsive and great for fingerstyle. With a light touch of the finger, this OMC goes to work producing a rich inviting tone, that will keep you coming back for more. This is the guitar that you won’t be able to put down.
