Collings OM2H E Engelmann Spruce and Indian Rosewood Short Scale

‘OM’ stands for “Orchestra Model,” but 80 years after this body shape was first designed it has become the most popular 14-fret model with fingerstyle guitar soloists who choose to play on steel strings… flatpickers also find it very appealing as the OM body shape allows for a more balanced tonal fingerprint than a Dreadnought would. No wonder that when Eric Clapton recorded his famous " Unplugged" record, he chose an OM body size!

The compact shape makes the Collings OM equally easy to handle onstage or when sitting on the couch. The tone is focused and powerful, as are all Collings' guitars.

This instrument features a custom 24 7/8" scale, lessening overall string tension for ease of fretting with your left hand while providing a quick response to light attack with your right hand. This paired with a 1 3/4" nut width will provide a very comfortable guitar for fingerstyle and flatpickers.

The custom Engelmann Spruce top is a wonderful appointment on this OM. Englemannn Spruce is a perfect topwood for many playing styles, in that it is stiff enough to flatpick while soft enough for fingerstyle players as well. When combined with rosewood back and sides, bass is rich and full with natural reverb like overtones.

The sound is compressed significantly and the short scale makes me feel like a real guitar player. It’s really amazing what a fraction of an inch can do, giving you easier reach and less tension.
