Collings OM2H DD MR A Custom Adirondack Spruce and Madagascar Rosewood Pre-Owned 2015
The extra features are what make this particular model stand out from the rest, featuring a thicker, deep body, measuring 4 5/8" deep. The deeper body provides rich low tones not often heard on OM size guitars, providing an incredibly rich and full sound. Increased air space in the body also offers a larger voice to keep up with your pals who might be playing a Dreadnought (thus the "DD" designation, as "Dreadnought Depth").
This guitar is a recording engineer’s dream! All of this is wrapped up in a guitar that you will feel comfortable sitting on the couch playing for hours, recording on music row, or playing on any stage. Simply, yet elegantly appointed, this is a true family heirloom for generations to come.
The OM body size has been favored by fingerstyle players for years, but has made its mark in flatpicking and strumming with its unique clarity and projection. Living up to the pedigree and namesake Collings has established, this Collings OM2H A is no exception and is a true delight to play.
This OM2H A boasts the projection and tonal clarity Collings is known for, while still maintaining a good measure of warmth on the bottom end. The body size of the OM lends itself towards a more focused and defined tone than a typical dreadnought size, yet the folks at Collings build with volume in mind.
This instrument features an Adirondack spruce top and Madagascar Rosewood. Madagascar resonates evenly responsive across the entire tonal register and provides a crisp, sparkling treble commonly associated with Brazilian Rosewood. Madagascar is also becoming very scarce and this is a fantastic example of what a master luthier can do with the wood.
Adirondack is much stiffer than Sitka Spruce, resulting in quick response and tremendous volume. When coupled with the Madagascar Rosewood, notes are airy, crisp, meaty, and well defined... it also happens to be incredibly beautiful in appearance as well.
The tongue brace has also been left off of this guitar allowing for the Adirondack Spruce top to resonate a bit more freely. Additionally, this instrument features a 1 3/4" nut and ebony peghead veneer. Nearly every option available from Collings!
This instrument is in Excellent Condition with only a few light surface scratches on the top, and has been well cared for, with virtually no fret wear (it has spent much time in its case). We have attempted to capture this in the detailed photos posted, though the faint "towel" scratches can not be seen in the photos.
Includes Original Collings TKL Hardshell Case, also in near mint condition.
