Collings OM2H T
Collings OM2H T Traditional Model Guitar Baked Adirondack and Indian Rosewood
‘OM’ stands for “Orchestra Model,” but 80 years after this body shape was first designed it has become the most popular 14-fret model with fingerstyle guitar soloists who choose to play on steel strings. Flatpickers find it very appealing with virtually unlimited headroom and power when you need it.
The Traditional or "T" Series guitars reflect Bill Collings' return to his guitar making roots and offer a new tonal variation on the distinctive Collings sound. Each T Series guitar is built using animal protein glue and a very thin all nitrocellulose lacquer finish on the body, making them exceptionally dynamic and responsive.
Bracing and tone woods are adjusted for weight and thickness to create a voicing characterized by warm, rounded highs and a present low midrange, while retaining a quick attack and strong projection. Each Traditional series guitar will come with a handmade lightweight Collings case designed and built in the Collings shop. The pairing of these new Traditional guitars and cases makes for a combination of old world quality and aesthetic that is unprecedented among instruments available today.
The compact shape makes the Collings OM2H equally easy to handle onstage or when sitting on the couch. The tone is focused and powerful, as are all Collings' guitars.
The topwood on this guitar is Baked Adirondack, paired with rosewood back and sides. When torrefied, the wood becomes very open and responsive. It's noticeably warmer and more-open sounding, with the woodiness, snap and depth of a well played-in guitar. A joy to play, and a fingerpicker's..or flatpicker's dream guitar.
Simple and elegant appointments on this instrument include, pre-war scalloped bracing, No Tongue brace, Gold mother of pearl diamond and square fingerboard inlays, grained ivoroid body binding, herringbone purfling and a tortise style pickguard. This guitar also features a custom nut width of 1 3/4" that will be favorable to most any playing style.
