Collings OM3 A Adirondack and Indian Rosewood

The OM size, nearly 80 years after it was designed, has become the most popular 14-fret model with fingerstyle guitarists who play on steel strings, yet flatpickers also find it appealing. The OM3 model has been a personal favorite for Pete Townsend since he first began using Collings guitars in 2000. The compact shape makes the OM3 extremely comfortable and easy to handle either onstage or sitting on the couch. The relatively shallow body, at just over 4 deep, results in balanced tone and immediate response.

Adirondack Spruce, "the holy grail" of topwoods, drives the top of this powerful instrument. Adirondack is generally favored by heavy handed players, and provides nearly unlimited headroom when you need the extra power.

On an open strum, the words clarity and richness come right to mind. The trebles are clean and defined without overpowering the overall richness of the bottom-end.

The gorgeous set of Indian Rosewood on the back and sides broadens out the dynamic range, bringing overtone rich low-end and mellow yet defined trebles. When fingerpicking, each note is rich and warm, yet well defined and easily articulated.

The addition of the gorgeous 41 Style Abalone top border, Abalone rosette, logo and 42 style abalone snowflake fingerboard inlays, and gold Waverly tuners make this instrument stand out in the crowd.

Other custom appointments include a custom nut width of 1 3/4" for those who find the standard 1 13/16" a bit too wide for their playing style.

This guitar sounds every bit as beautiful as it looks! It is warm and complex but yet still crisp and clear. It sounds great both for flatpicking and fingerstyle. With a big voice, this is an instrument that will make you stand out in the band.
