Collings Tenor 2 Sitka Spruce and Indian Rosewood
The Collings Tenor 2 features our own variation of the traditional "0" body dimension that provides exceptional projection, warmth, and clarity.
The tenor's slim "V" profile neck is also well suited to anyone seeking an alternative to the wide fingerboards of standard guitars. Hand crafted to the exacting standards that have earned Collings worldwide renown, the Collings tenor is among the finest examples of this instrument available today.
Arriving in the era of jazz bands and dance orchestras, the tenor guitar was first seen as a way for tenor banjo players to produce the popular new guitar sound. After finding a home in the Hawaiian, folk, and country music styles of the 1930-50's, the tenor guitar was sidelined in popularity by its six-string sibling. Today the tenor guitar is once again finding favor with a diverse base of musicians and we are excited to offer our version of this classic instrument.
Collings makes guitars with such superb tone and aesthetics. The craftmanship is top notch and comes out in the tone, playability, and feel of their great instrument. This guitar is truly a great one to add to any players collection.
The Collings Tenor 2 features a Sitka Spruce top paired with Indian Rosewood back and sides. Simple appointments include an Ebony fingerboard, bridge and peghead overlay, Tortoise style top and back binding and a V neck profile with 1 11/32" string spacing.
This gorgeous sounding tenor guitar is tuned to C-G-D-A and is played with mandolin chord fingering.
