Fender Custom Shop Rosewood Jaguar Masterbuilt by Greg Fessler

Greg Fessler came to the Fender Custom Shop in 1990, working his way up through the ranks as an apprentice. He assisted with the Robben Ford signature line of guitars, eventually becoming the sole builder of those instruments and, later, Ford’s personal builder.

Fessler has built one-off Stratocaster, Jaguars, and Telecaster models for a host of players, including Joe Bonnamasa, Jeff Healey, Hank Marvin, John Mayer, Rhonda Smith, Neil Schon and Pete Wentz, to name only a few.

Fessler’s remarkable abilities as a Master Builder have earned him accolades from many Fender artists and from discerning customers worldwide. His meticulous attention to detail is exemplified in every instrument he creates, each of which is a perfect example of the intense
commitment it takes to earn the title of Master Builder.

The Fender Jaguar solidbody electric guitar has been a mainstay among rock 'n' roll guitarists since its introduction in the early 1960s. Initially the guitar was designed to be one of Fender's top-of-the-line alternatives to their other models. It quickly caught on with players who appreciated the different tones and feel it offers.

George Harrison made the rosewood Telecaster famous. Fender has even released a rosewood Stratocaster. Now it's time to add this Fender Custom Shop Rosewood Jaguar to the collection.

The wood is rich, dark and mesmerizing. The All Rosewood neck sports a 9.5" radius and the frets are Medium Jumbo's for fantastic playability. The pickups are a set of Fender Custom Shop '62 Jaguar Pickups. The finish is WLS, not high gloss. It is a bit on the heavy side but that's to be expected for any solid Rosewood instrument.

Jesse's Two Cents:

"What a treat! Not only do I want to play it all day (and find out what all the switches do), I just want to stare at all this gorgeous rosewood. Fender did such an incredible job with their nod to George Harrison's all Rosewood Tele, why not see how a Jag would fare with the same treatment? The chrome appointments, and the cream colored bone nut/pickup covers really stand out beautifully against the rich flowing grain of the RW. My favorite view of this Jag is looking at the headstock from the back, while playing it. Seeing that familiar shape, in such a non-familiar wood color never gets old. This guitar has sustain for days because of it's substantial heft and fantastic resonance. It's remarkable what the Custom Shop is able to do!"
