Huss and Dalton 000SP Sinker Mahogany ID-7883
Huss and Dalton 000SP Sinker Mahogany
While Huss and Dalton are praised for their dreadnoughts, we are always impressed by the remarkable balance and response of their small bodied beauties. And we are constantly blown away by anything that comes out of their shop! This Huss and Dalton 000SP delivers on both counts - a true fingerpickin' dream!
Huss and Dalton applies the same building style to their 000 as they do their standard dreadnoughts. The top is built with a 25' radius. A positive by-product of the radiused soundboard design, besides its load bearing properties, is a boost in the mid-range without overpowering the bass and trebles.
This is design function is showcased in this guitar - boasting unsurpassed tonal balance.
The 0o0-SP All “Sinker” Mahogany from Huss and Dalton is built using old growth "sinker mahogany," and is nothing short of spectacular! "If you like wood with a story, then it doesn't get any better than this material. This is material from the bottom of Belizean rivers. Belize used to be a British colony. The British exported a lot of Mahogany from Belize throughout history and during the 19th century they used the rivers of Belize as their main source of transportation. Occasionally the denser Mahogany logs would sink! These logs for over 100 years had been lost and forgotten, until now!" Read the rest of this entry about Sinker Mahogany here.
The Sinker Mahogany on the top lends a crisp, defined tone to finger picked chords. This instrument is incredibly responsive to bare fingers, where you barely have to touch the strings and the sound leaps out of the guitar!
The Sinker Mahogany back and sides produces a tone that is clear and powerful. The low end is spectacular and much more prominent than many standard mahogany guitars of this size.
The midrange, while maintaining stunning clarity and definition, is very smooth and pleasant, making for a very balanced sound without the harsh upper mids and trebles that can sometimes take place. Lending clarity and punch to the guitar is Huss and Dalton’s exclusive hand split Adirondack bracing, which helps to add stiffness to the small top, however, never at the sacrifice of the responsiveness.
Some gorgeous appointments have been chosen to further compliment this little beauty. The Koa bindings on the body, fretboard and head stock as well as the Maple /W/B/W/B/W/B top purfling take this guitar over the top!
