Huss and Dalton TOM M Guitar ID-9550
Huss and Dalton TOM-M
Huss and Dalton TOM-M Thermo-cured Red Spruce and Sinker Mahogany... Balanced, crisp tone, and responsiveness is the name of the game here; all with Huss & Dalton's trademark "bell-like ring" they have become known for. The even response and airy, shimmery qualities are characteristic of Huss and Dalton OMs, and this one captures that to perfection.
Huss and Dalton applies the same building style to their OM as they do their standard dreadnoughts. The top is built with a 25' radius. A positive by-product of the radiused soundboard design, besides its load bearing properties, is a boost in the mid-range without overpowering the bass and trebles.
This is design function is showcased in this guitar - boasting unsurpassed tonal balance. The Sitka Spruce top is braced with hand split Adirondack Red Spruce, as are all of Huss and Dalton's guitars, which is a stiffer bracing material that makes for a more responsive and lively top due to a more efficient transfer of energy.
This TOM-R features custom diamond inlays and Ivoroid bindings on the body.
Huss and Dalton Guitars Traditional Flat Top vs Radiused Top
If you have spent any time studying their website or model designations, you’ve probably noticed the distinctive title “Traditional Models” available from Huss & Dalton. This special designation is currently reserved for just four guitars, two each Dreadnoughts and Orchestra Models, separate from the many other fine instruments offered in their catalog.
We answer a number of inquiries as to the reason for these two design differences, and how they might equate to players’ needs. Relax – these two seemingly opposing designs have been around for years. Here’s how it works…
Most all modern acoustic guitar designs feature two standard components, the X bracing pattern, and a radiused top. The “radiused top” refers to a large radius being cut or shaped into the top-facing side of the X brace itself. All Huss & Dalton guitar sound boards begin life with a 25’ radius carved into the back side of the X brace (even their Traditional models).
