With our extensive experience in designing custom guitars (Collings, Santa Cruz, Huss & Dalton, Bourgeois) we enjoy pushing the boundaries of selective tone woods, combined with an esthetic flair.  Our team has been collaborating on custom builds with Maton Guitars Master Builder Andy Allen for over a decade.

Ziricote grows up to 52 ft. tall, in regions of Central America, Southern Mexico and also in the Caribbean. An excerpt from Wood-Database.com, "Color ranges from medium to dark brown,"... "Ziricote has a very unique appearance, which is sometimes referred to as “spider-webbing” or “landscape” grain figure. Quartersawn surfaces can also have ray flakes similar in appearance to those found on quartersawn Hard Maple."

The science of sound... Ziricote has a janka hardness on par with a good set of Honduran Rosewood. For us guitar fans, this measure relates to the ability to reflect sound waves. Harder than Honduran Mahogany, projection is exceptional.

Density (or specific gravity) is similar to Brazilian Rosewood, producing a comparable complexity with overtones and natural reverb. Combined here with a European Spruce sound board, this Maton Custom Shop 808 will be super responsive right from the start, superior for most any style of playing.

All Maton Custom Shop models are built by Master Builder Andy Allen. He hand picks the premium wood sets for his master grade collection. Andy has built guitars for many famous Maton artists. His detailed work for each creation is captured in photos during the build process for each guitar, accompanied by a USB drive with dozens of photos for each specific guitar.
