Pre Owned 2013 Collings D1 Indian G German Spruce with Indian Rosewood Back and Sides
If there is anything the folks at Collings know, and they know quite a lot - it is dreadnoughts. While Collings is certainly not the first to build them, they bring a new tonal clarity to the depth and warmth usually associated with such a large, deep-bodied guitar. The bass response makes the dreadnought ideal for vocal accompaniment, however, Collings D1 Series dreads are employed by some of the busiest bluegrass flatpickers in the business, such as Andy Falco of the Stringdusters and Adam Aijala of Yonder Mountain String Band.
This particular Collings D1 features a custom German Spruce top and Indian Rosewood back and sides. German Spruce with it's high headroom, and complex lush bass, mixed with a clear, bell-like high end is the perfect compliment to the Indian Rosewood Back and Sides.
Chord accompaniment is full and single note lines jump out at you. Rhythm players will appreciate that the German top allows a heavier hand than Sitka, yet sounds a bit more like old Adirondack. German spruce offers both a quicker string attack, quicker decay, as well as slightly less lingering overtones - which can be a bit pesky depending upon your playing needs.
The Indian Rosewood brings the guitar balance and warmth, and when coupled with German Spruce brings the guitar strong fundamentals, quick response, warm round trebles, and can be strummed or finger-picked with ease.
This Pre Owned 2013 Collings D1 Indian G German Spruce with Indian Rosewood Back and Sides is in excellent condition. There are a few very minor finish scratches on the pickguard and beneath the soundhole which we have attempted to capture in the detailed photos below.
