Pre-Owned 2013 Collings OM1A Adirondack and Mahogany with Varnish Finish - 15039

The Collings OM1 A is a classic Collings model, but topped with an Adirondack Spruce Top and a Varnish Finish it packs a serious punch.  It's killer volume and presence - make it a dreadnought alternative for those of us wanting a big sound in a smaller box. This OM1 A has a superb balance and clarity, each note stands out in chordal accompaniment, as well as lead lines. The Adirondack top adds a tremendous amount of headroom, crisp trebles, and gut-punching mids. It takes to a flat pick beautifully, but sings with bare fingers as well. You know the feeling when you're holding that guitar? - this is that guitar.

Accompaniments like the Adirondack bracing make this guitar that much more menacing. Adirondack Bracing offers a more efficient transfer of string energy to the top, since Adirondack is much stiffer than the standard Sitka braces. This allows for a more responsive and powerful sound board.  And, the custom 1 3/4" nut width which allows our finger picking friends to play effortlessly and bend chords easily.

Thinner than nitrocellulose lacquer, the custom varnish finish is more flexible and allows the wood to resonate more, significantly smoothing out the mid's and highs while extending the low end considerably. The tonal qualities produced by the varnish finish are amazing, especially when compared side by side to a guitar without it.

Finished off with gorgeous tortoise body binding, Black /White wood nitrate strip rosette, Black / White wood purfling and 1-style walnut backstrip, this guitar not only sounds fantastic, it provides a classic style and elegance unlike any other.

This amazing little sound explosion machine is in great shape with a few dings on the top and a few on the back.  Pictures of dings are very magnified to show they don't go thru to the wood.  The 2 largest are 1/8" to 1/4".  Any others were way too small to photograph.  There are some scratches on the pickguard.  Considering varnish is a softer finish these are not unexpected after 8 years.  It has minor fret wear and comes in the original Collings Hardshell case.
