Santa Cruz OM PW Sitka and Mahogany
In the 1920's, the Orchestra Model was originally intended to be a large guitar capable of being heard over other orchestral instruments, hence the OM name. Although it fit the bill, its relatively large body was soon eclipsed by the mighty dreadnought. Fortunately, the Santa Cruz OM had secured its place in history as a powerful and versatile voice for public performance. Santa Cruz was among the first modern builders to reintroduce this now smaller bodied favorite at the beginning of the Eighties. Their practice of combining the most desirable attributes of old and new, rather than copying, made for a very successful introduction of the Santa Cruz Guitar Company to a whole new audience.
The OM Pre-War Model is designed with many of the features in bracing and tone that the emerging singer-songwriter, the working musician, or a serious amateur will find desirable at a price before unheard of in guitars of this caliber.
The advanced X braces, which is the bracing pattern Pre-War refers to, is a good tonal option for those using the guitar for smaller accompaniment or rhythm. This style bracing gives the smaller bodied OM an incredible presence and bass response, yet retains a good balance with strong midrange and bright powerful response. The Santa Cruz OM/PW is always a shop favorite for that reason... it sounds so good and responds so well, players never want to put it down.
This OM/PW features custom Mahogany back and sides which produces a tone that is clear and powerful. The low end is spectacular and much more prominent than many standard mahogany guitars of this size. The midrange, while maintaining stunning clarity and definition, is very smooth and pleasant, making for a very balanced sound without the harsh upper mids and trebles that can sometimes take place.
