Taylor 514 CE Western Red Cedar and Mahogany
The cutaway Grand Auditorium 514ce is a perennial favorite with singer-songwriters and light-to-medium strummers. The pairing of mahogany back and sides with a cedar top yields a tone with a strong, clear midrange presence, while the cedar top adds warmth and a bit of overtone bloom that suggests an older, played-in guitar.
With the addition of Taylor's Performance bracing, the overall voice responds with more power and volume. Appointments include faux tortoise shell binding and pickguard, a rosette Abalone & Slotted Diamond fingerboard inlays.
Cedar is less dense than spruce, and that softness typically translates into a sense of sonic warmth. If Sitka has a full dynamic range, cedar makes quieter tones louder. If one tries to drive a cedar top hard, at a certain point it will reach a volume limit. Typically, players with a lighter touch sound wonderful on a cedar-top guitar, fingerstyle players especially that lighter touch will be amplified a little more, and one's attack never reaches the ceiling.
The Mahogany back and sides add projection without brittleness while the Abalone on the rosette & the slotted diamond inlays give the instrument an elegant look!
This Pre-Owned Guitar is in Good Condition w/ some wear and tear to note. There is a professionally repaired crack in the top. There are many signs of heavy wear and tear including scratches, and dings throughout the entire instrument. The finish on the sides and back is starting to slightly peel off, and there is some minor fret wear. That being said the guitar plays wonderfully and sounds amazing!
