Waterloo WL 12 MH Mahogany Guitar
Bill Collings has done it again! Since introducing Waterloo guitars in 2014, we knew these were going to be a hit.
For those of you who know the amount of detail and care that goes into every Collings guitar, you might assume these Waterloos will achieve their goal of recreating a timeless classic - the dime store guitar. While they might not go as far as coming in a cardboard box, each Waterloo model has been painstakingly designed to sound, look and feel just like the originals, with some modern comforts of course. With adjustable truss rods and more consistent strings than ones from the 1930s, these guitars have worked out all the kinks and achieve the same experience.
When played by artists like Jeff Tweedy and Julian Lage, each Waterloo model sounds to our ear just like a depression era recording without the dusty crackle of a 45 RPM record. Whether you use it for a writers round, or play mic'd up in church, we know that this Waterloo will get you that vintage sound you have always dreamt about.
With custom full body Mahogany construction, carved X bracing, and low profile neck, this WL-12 achieves the look and sound without the club-like vintage neck. Other details like the firestripe pickguard, ebony nut, sunburst finish and adjustable truss rod make all the details on this guitar.
From the Waterloo website:
"American roots music was born back when there was a need for soulful tone that could be coaxed from simple instruments. This brand is all about capturing the voice and spirit of the very best depression era guitars in a well-made and playable instrument."
This guitar is simply a joy to play! It's comfortable body size that is quite easy to get around on. Although it has Waterloo on the headstock it's clear it has Collings DNA running through it. For a small bodied guitar it has great projection and a big voice. It's a guitar that has something to say!
