Hawaiian Koa has always been loved for its beauty, but recently guitar builders have recognized Koa for it's tone as well. Koa produces a warm, rich and still very defined sound – between the darker sounds of Rosewood and the clean bright sound of Maple. This Koa Ukulele uses native Hawaiian Koa for the top, back, and sides of the body. The unbound Rosewood neck is set off perfectly by tortoise peghead overlay with traditional Grover tuners.
The woody tone that leaps out of this National Koa Ukulele is well defined in the mids with a lush reverb-type resonation. Notes are clear and distinct, with just enough "effects" built right in. Attack is sharp and punchy with quick decay and plenty of volume.
National Ukulele's are hands down the loudest Ukes in the shop. The 5 7/8" resonator cone significantly amplifies the instrument complimenting the Koa perfectly, with a tone that is round, full, warm and loud!
