One of the most visually stunning furniture timbers available, Blackwood has also become an important tonewood. Most of the Blackwood comes from the Otway Ranges in Victoria, Australia. It often displays "fiddleback" character and "AAA" grade Blackwood can be intensely figured. It has a warm, full tone with a particularly pleasing mid frequency response and has become one of the most sought after timbers. The AP5 Pro Pickup System includes a separate microphone and piezo pickup, both of which can be blended via their individual controls. The microphone is direct mounted to the preamp casing via an adjustable arm, which permits easy final tweaking of microphone position to suit the individual artists style.
