2007 Custom Bourgeois DBJ Redwood Top With Mahogany Back and Sides

While Dana Bourgeois has established a reputation for building fantastic dreadnoughts, the world of fingerstyle guitars does not elude him. This Custom Bourgeois DBJ practically demands to be played with bare fingers or picks, but can stand up beautifully to some light-to-medium strumming as well (braced with Adirondack Red Spruce). Even the most discerning player will be pleasantly delighted as to how responsive this beauty is.

One of the many fine appointments on this guitar is it's Redwood top. Redwood is a dark colored tonewood with lush, dark tones that overflow with complexity and richness. It tends to displays the same general tonal characteristics as Cedar, but leaning slightly toward darker tones. Stiffer than Cedar, it lends itself beautifully to fingerstyle because it is easy to articulate with a light touch, and has a quick decay that allows for good definition, from note to note. Dana takes these characteristics to the next level by tap tuning every top. His years of experience rings true in the ability to maximize the responsiveness of each guitar he builds. Because of the Mahogany back and sides this guitar is extremely versatile and shines, both at fingerstyle playing as well as fingerpicking. This particular guitar has a custom label which reads DADGAD, as the original of the guitar felt that the specs on this one excelled at drop, and alternate tunings. You can be sure with Red Wood and Mahogany combo, it does! Warm, lush, yet defined with great note definition.

Other select appointments on this guitar include Brazilian Rosewood Binding accented with tiny black white pinstripe purfling, Abalone Rosette, signature Snakehead headstock profile with Ebony Overlay, and 16" lower bout width.

This guitar is in mint condition, hard to distinguish used from new there are a just a few very light un-photographical scratches on the top. A L.R. Baggs Anthem pickup system was removed and an original bourgeois bone saddle and oversized gold endpin was installed to restore this instrument to factory specifications. Gold strap button has been professionally installed. It has very minor fretwear and the original hardshell case is included.
