2009 Santa Cruz 000 Cedar and Figured Mahogany with Adirondack Braces and Hot Hide Glue ID-8217
2009 Santa Cruz OOO Cedar and Figured Mahogany with Adirondack Braces and Hot Hide Glue
The 000 is the 12-fret predecessor of the OM. If access past the 12th fret is of no concern, the Santa Cruz OOO adds some distinct advantages tonally and cosmetically. The extension of the body to the 12th fret adds additional airspace, which translates into increased sound volume and a more predominate bass in the EQ.
The slotted peghead is a standard feature that adds classic styling. The peghead’s reduced mass accentuates the guitar’s open, airy ambiance, making it a fingerstyle favorite.
Custom appointments on this instrument include the custom Cedar top and figured Mahogany back and sides. Cedar is a very soft tonewood that requires minimal attack to make it produce a lush sound, when combined with mahogany this guitar produces a sound that is very warm and responsive with articulate tones.
Because of the Figured Mahogany back and sides this guitar is extremely versatile and shines, both at fingerstyle playing as well as fingerpicking. Warm, lush, yet defined with great note definition.
The Benefits of the Adirondack Bracing can't be ignored, adding not only responsiveness, but a new level of detail and clarity. The Adirondack Bracing helps to stiffen the top, making it that much more powerful with more headroom and overall volume as well as providing a very focused tone that is only complimented by the 000's body size.
Hide glue, an additional custom appointment, has been phased out by most luthiers due to its labor intensive application & difficulty in building a spotless, clean body interior. Hot hide glue sets up like glass, offering a more immediate and efficient transfer of energy throughout the top, making the overall guitar more responsive with a clarity of tone that is unmatched.
This guitar is finished off with gorgeous custom appointments including Tweed Herringbone top purfling and sound hole rosette, Brazilian Rosewood headstock overlay with vintage Santa Cruz script logo inlay, and a custom Tweed backstripe and end stripe.
You’ve seen the SCGC OOO on stage with Jeff Tweedy and Dave Matthews as a solid performing songwriter’s tool. It has also been heard in numerous recordings as a mainstay of pro session players. You will find immediate purpose for the OOO and wonder why you didn’t have it in your arsenal all along.
