Collings OM1A Adirondack Spruce and Mahogany ID-5882
Collings OM1A Adirondack Spruce and Mahogany
The Collings OM1A is a classic Collings model and a shop favorite. OM stands for Orchestra Model, but 80 years after this body shape was first designed it has become the most popular 14-fret model with fingerstyle guitar soloists who choose to play on steel strings.
Yet flatpickers also find it appealing, and when the graceful cutaway is added these OMs are often used by lead players who routinely explore all 20 frets much as they would on an electric guitar. The compact shape makes the Collings OM equally easy to handle onstage or when sitting on the couch, and the relatively shallow body (barely over 4 inches deep) results in balanced tone and an immediate response.
This OM1A packs a serious punch, with killer volume and presence - easily acting as a dreadnought alternative. The OM1A has a superb balance and clarity, each note stands out. The Adirondack top adds a tremendous amount of headroom, crisp trebles, and gut-punching mids. It takes to a flatpick beautifully, but sings with bare fingers as well. You know the feeling when you're holding that guitar? - this is that guitar.
Collings makes guitars with such superb tone and aesthetics. The craftmanship is top notch and comes out in the tone, playability, and feel of their great instrument. This guitar is truly a great one to add to any players collection.
