We are pleased to offer this gently used and well cared for Maton SRS-808 Cutaway, purchased from Artisan Guitars in 2022. The original owner recently upgraded to a new Maton.
The ultra-thin satin nitrocellulose finish has the usual glossy highlights in touch / contact points on the body and back of the neck. You can see these featured in our photos.
Considering it has been lovingly played, fret wear is modest and not the usual pattern from treble strings in the 1st position. The satin finish on back of the neck (now glossy) is indicative the entire neck was used, likely for more complex chord progressions and single note runs.
The Western Red Cedar top is "played in", very responsive and resonant. It has been inspected, setup to factory specs, and the Maton AP5-Pro electronics tested prior to our offering.
Notes from our original post for this guitar:
The Maton SRS808 incorporates solid Blackwood back and sides and a Western Red Cedar top. The SRS808 is an absolutely beautiful guitar and combines the warm, full tones of Blackwood with the top end sparkle of Cedar.
A forward shifting of the X braces and the shifting of scallop peaks to nodal points around the soundboard help to enhance the vibration of the top. The shifting of the X braces also allows the inclusion of a second, parallel tone bar which allows the scalloping of both tone bars, and spreads the load while reducing mass.
Adjusted bracing heights as well as a locked 15 foot radius for the arch of the back, gave the plate resonance separation they were looking for between top and back. We now have the full, open, lower frequency response as well as a crisp, well defined treble response.
This model is very popular with fingerstyle players who work with a lighter string attack, suited to the responsive Cedar soundboard for excellent dynamics with subtle playing. Yet the SRS-808 is not shy with a flat pick!
